Late to the Succulent Planting Party...

Yes, I know.  I'm totally late to this party, but I finally got myself some super cute succulent plants to live on the window ledge in our kitchen.

It all started when I found these adorable little planters at Target.  {Yup, the same trip I purchased my door mat for the front porch}.  Technically, I think they are votives, but to me, they look like mini-planters.

Now I just needed some plants...and for that, I thought I'd have to go to Home Depot.  NOPE.  I walked into my local CVS to pick up a prescription after work {shout out to Michelle and all the other pharmacists out there}, and saw they had a bunch of succulents for sale near the entrance.  I thought it was meant to be.  I picked up four of them, and brought them home.

Of course, several days passed before I actually did anything about planting them.  All it took was stealing some rocks from a bamboo plant we had in our bathroom to line the bottom of the votives mini-planters...

Then I put the plant and some extra soil in...

Boom, done! Plants in the window.

  2. I freaking love target - those "mini-planters" are so cute! I just found a really cute shower curtain there. Glad you joined the succulent party - I hope you have better luck than I do at keeping plants alive ;)

  6. I loooove succulents. I have some in my outdoor gardens but have yet to put some in planters. I'm thinking my patio table needs some and possibly one for inside too. Yours are adorable! I love the ombre look to your planters and the colour is perfect for you!!

    1. Me too...I really love the shape and appearance of those plants, and I'm hoping their easy care means I don't kill them with my not-so-green thumb. ;) Thanks so much, Christine!! :)

    1. Thanks so much, Amber! By now, one of them seems to be dying, but the other three are doing just fine! I swear, the key is watering them, ummmmmm, never? Hahaha...I think Cara's ice cube trick from above is great advice!

    1. Don't worry, Kristel! One of mine hasn't lasted through the weeks. It seems to be on it's way out. I'm not sure if it's my black thumb, or the fact that I got them from CVS HA!

    1. I hope so...because after a couple weeks, one of the four seems like it might be dying. I don't know if it's because my black thumb of death got to it, or if it's because I bought them from CVS. HA!

  15. I am too chicken to re-pot a plant, so I am very impressed by this. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the pots and miniature succulents are both adorable.

I bought a succulent on my last trip to IKEA, and I haven't killed it yet. It helps that it requires almost no watering, and I also heard somewhere that they clean more air per plant than other plant varieties.

  16. I love them Gabbi!!! Who knew the drugstore carried them hah! Unfortunately, two out of four of mine died and I have no idea why..they only thing I can think of is maybe I overwatered them. :( Yours are so cute in your little pots, so let me know if you keep them alive and what you do!

    1. Aw, thank you, Whitney! I knowww...I was so shocked when I saw them there! Don't feel too bad...one of the four of mine seems to be dying. I don't know what I did since the others seem a-okay. Maybe it's because I got them from the pharmacy hahaha!

Check out Cara's ice cube tip from above! It might help us. :)

  19. I was wondering if you know what the name of the plant you planted with the haworthia is? I have one as well that I also got from cvs, but I am still not able to identify what it is!
