Far From Over...

For those of you who remember this post, you know our basement is quite dark and dreary...and well, retro.  I never choose to spend more time down there than I need to.  Basically, I quickly do my laundry, and I enter and exit our house through there...that's about it.

Since we first shared the space with you, we've had a new steel post installed to accommodate the removal of so many walls upstairs, the hubs and I ripped down the ceiling, we had new windows installed, we rearranged the laundry area {with new a new washer and dryer}, we moved in and now, thanks to a whole heck of a lot of hard work by my Dad, we lightened up the walls with a couple fresh coats of paint.

{Here's my typical apology...sorry for the awful pictures.  I took them on my iPhone as I left for work in the morning.  And seriously, we only have 3 lights in the whole basement.  Its awful.}

We know this is NOT where our basement story ends.  I mean, come on...it still screams HEEELP!!!  But it is a lot better than where we started. :)

One day {when we hit the lotto} we will have this area re-done...so it'll be the perfect place for kids to hang out and play.

Anyone else dreaming of re-doing a specific area of their home?!?!?  I'd be shocked if I heard a "no" to that! ;)

  1. I know I should be focusing on the retro-ness (which I know would drive me crazy too), but I can't help but be jealous of all that SPACE! So much storage! So much potential! Can't wait to see what you do with it :)

    1. Thanks Justine! :) I have to admit, we do love the great amount of storage that our older home has. It was something I didn't think we'd be able to find in a 1950's ranch!

  2. It's looking MUCH brighter! I'm dreaming of re-doing my entire house. Not in particular, everything in general! I spy a fer home decor items down there. Can't wait to see if they make their way upstairs. They're way to pretty for the basement.

    1. I hear you! It's nice to daydream and think of what you want your home to become.

      And good eye! There are definitely a few finds in the basement that I picked up at Home Goods. I just haven't found a home for them yet. Don't worry, they will not be staying in our dingy basement haha.

  3. Even your before pictures looked better than any basement I've ever had. At least it appears to be dry, which is a huge plus! And of course, now it's clean and freshly painted. That makes such a big difference.

    1. Yea, I can't wait to fix it up a bit so it's more homey and matches the rest of our house. Of course that will not be for quite a few years, so I'll just daydream for now haha.

  5. It looks so much brighter than before! Amazing what a little paint can do! And it's all organized nicely too :) I would love a master bedroom rehaul with a double vanity!

    1. They used to be buffed and shined to perfection...which made them pretty tolerable. But ever since we broke ground to pour the footing for the new post...the floors are perma-dirty. Even after a million scrubbings. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
