Needs vs. Wants

In an ideal world, we would purchase only things that we need...then all other income would be stashed away into a savings account for our future.  Unfortunately, my lack of willpower has occasionally been known to hinder that aspiration from time to time.  Is it my fault that any cute home décor and/or clothing thats on sale has been known to be my kryptonite?!?  Oh, it is my fault??  Welp, too bad…I am who I am. ;)  And I loooove me a great deal!!

So what was I to do when a super amazing deal fell into my lap {aka - popped up in front of my eyes on my computer screen}?  I caved.  I went for it.  I couldn’t resist.

It was under $200 {still a lot of money, but not when you think about purchasing the same pieces brand new}.  It was solid wood.  THE SELLERS WERE EVEN WILLING TO DRIVE IT TO OUR HOUSE {clutch for people who own cars}.

And it was campaign style.  Did you hear me?!  Campaign style, people!  I have drooled over many of these pieces online, and never thought I’d be able to get my mitts on any.  But these babies are all mine.  And one day, I will give them lots of TLC like I did to these, and love them even more {if that is possible}.

  5. Beautiful!!! I try to only buy pieces I absolutely love and know where they are going as soon as they come into my house. However, I recently bought some shelving for my daughter's room from Target and spent $70 for something that's NOT real wood. I should have had my dad build them for a fraction of the cost but it was one of those "I want it done NOW!" moments. You pay for convience... oh well. I can see them in my classroom some day and then I won't care. But wowzers, you got lucky! What color are you going to paint them? I love the brightly colored campaign pieces but also love a simple white or black.

    1. Yea, sometimes I pay for convenience, but this was a time where I couldn't pass up such pretty things even though I won't use them for some time! I'm not sure what color I'll paint them...I guess I'll see when I find a home for them. A crisp white or bright color will probably be the direction I go. :)

    1. Thanks Jenny!! I'm definitely going to paint them...but I'm not sure what color. {I love the pop of brass against some pretty paint...} I'm going to have to wait until I figure out the right home for them. I'm super excited that I have them just waiting to be used though! :)

  11. Under $200?? That's amazing! I sometimes feel guilty when I buy these things but not cause I shouldn't spend the money but because I know the suckers who are selling me the goods could totally make more money if only they knew hahaha

  13. Very nice! Seems pretty affordable too!

I tend to spend every single dime I have, then cry broke afterwards, lol. This is one of my New Year resolutions, putting a stop to unnecessary spending and save! I hope I'm successful because being broke makes me depressed.

    1. Thanks Hayley!! (Btw, LOVE your name!) Good luck in your search for some great finds! :) I haven't done anything yet....they are still hanging in our basement. I'm thinking they'll be perfect for our basement when we reno it, so they might be idle for a while.
