Signs.

I think someone is trying to tell us it's time to take the holiday decor down.

Our outdoor Christmas lights are on a timer.  They are set to come on at dusk.  I had to come home early on Thursday to accept delivery of this baby {can't wait to share...and no, unfortunately it's not our rugs}.  That meant the sun was still out, and our lights hadn't switched on yet.

Hubby came home about an hour after me and said he had some bad news.  We had become his nightmare...we were "those" people who had sloppy lights hanging off of our house.  He couldn't take it, went outside and shut them off immediately {after I took pictures of the evidence, of course}.

We are taking it as a sign to get our butts in gear.  Hopefully, we'll get our house de-Christmas-ified this weekend, but I wouldn't place any bets because tomorrow is this little guy's 1st birthday celebration.  How the heck did our Godson turn 1 already?!?!

Have a great weekend everyone! :)

  1. We still have our lights up but so do everyone else around here. I figured I'd take down the inside stuff this weekend but I may wait for the lights until it warms up a bit here. I may just turn them off though. Enjoy the party, he's a cutie!

    1. I don't blame you for wanting to wait until the weather warms up! My hubby does all the outside stuff, so I don't have to worry about the weather.

      Thanks, it was fun! :)

  2. The shame! ;)

Ours will probably be up for a few months because 1. It's really cold. 2. Our house is tall and there is snow and ice. 3. My husband is an accountant and does nothing productive for the next 4 months. They are at least off.

    Have with the birthday par-tay!!

    1. Those are all stellar reasons to leave your lights right where they are. The only reason we {and by "we" I clearly mean my hubby} can take them down so easily is because of how our ranch is. Plus, I think Pete wanted to get it done and over with before busy season hit. He is already working tomorrow. Boooooo!

  3. It's so sad to take down Christmas decorations. It's on my to-do list as well. I wish outside lights are acceptable year round because I would TOTALLY leave them up. Let's start a trend! :) And dying to see what you have in that box!

    1. I know! Everything looks so dark and bare post-Christmas. Tear.

I'm totally in...we can make the trend take off! ;)

  4. We took down our Christmas decor this past week and it broke my heart. I wish we could keep it up forever. I see "vanity" on that box... is it something for the bathroom??

    1. Agreed! I love the cozy factor of having lights everywhere.

You have some amazing eyes...it does say that! 10 points for you! ;)

  5. Excited to see what's in the box! We have our lights still up on the outside as well and likely will until Spring (it's too cold, snowy and icy to take them down safely after Christmas) but we shut them off this weekend. Hope the birthday party was great! My niece's birthday was on Friday - she's 5 already!!

    1. That definitely makes sense...if I were you, I'd keep them up until spring too!!

Thanks, it was fun. Oh my gosh...doesn't time fly?!?!

  6. I was so sad when we took ours down! :( It makes everything seem so gloomy.

Can't wait to find out what's in the box!

  7. Oh he is a cutie! And it was weird for us when we came back into town after the holidays - all of our neighborhood lights were gone! It was strange - at first I thought a few street lamps had blown because it was so dark, haha. Took me a minute to realize what was going on.

    1. Isn't it such a difference when that festive glow is gone? Such a bummer!! :-/

  8. We finally de-Christmasified last weekend, only because my inlaws were coming in town AND because we don't have any outdoor Christmas lights. I can almost guarantee we'd be the people that would leave them up year-round. The neighbors would LOVE it. :)

  9. I got the decorations off the tree. Now just to put everything back in the Christmas closet. I haven't asked my daughter how she fared yet this year. She has the tinsel tree and all the mid century stuff at the old split level this year. I didn't get to go home for Christmas, because I was stuck in Texas with a brand new puppy, who was too young to travel.

    1. That's unfortunate that you couldn't make it home, but at least you got to enjoy your new puppy!

  10. Awwww, what a little cutie pie!

I haven't even begun to take our Christmas decor down. Just thinking about it makes me tired!

    1. I'm pretty sure ours would still be up if my hubby didn't go and take the outside lights down the day before I did the inside. Plus, just because I took the Christmas stuff down, doesn't mean I found the motivation to put our house back in order. Oooops! :)

  11. See this is always the problem with lights - I love having them up but I hate both putting them up and taking them down! So I'm the last to put them up and the last to take them down --- so don't worry, I'm also "one of those people" :)
