Now that I've covered the guest/hall bath, it's time to show the guest bedrooms. This post is probably the most underwhelming of the series. Whomp, whomp. Why? Because we haven't made any major changes to these rooms.
Well, I guess that's not totally true. Our third guest bedroom radically changed...from a bedroom to our ensuite! That's right...two walk-in closets and our master bath! What the what?!?
Remember when we added our original master bath (and part of the largest original master closet) to enlarge our small hall/guest bath? We were able to do that since we were stealing our third bedroom to compensate. Here are the floor plans again better illustrate...

You'll see all that goodness when I reveal our master, but for now...it's all about our underwhelming bedroom #1 and #2. (You're excited aren't you?!?!) Both rooms received new windows, doors, paint, a light/fan combo and refinished hardwoods. The first space is halfway presentable because it's the room my parent's call home when they come visit.
The second space, welp, I'm just keeping it real. At first it was a smidge of an improvement....
But now, yeaaaaaa, it looked much better in the "before".
This space is where all my half-worked-on-crafts, maybe-going-to-start-one-day projects, extra decor and random junk live. It's not pretty, but it's real life. I'll get my act together one day, and actually paint this room a color I like, but I'm pretty sure I won't do it until we have a child to put in there. Embarrassing? Yes. True story? Yes, again.
Don't worry....after this less than stellar post, I'll be sharing our master next! I've re-worked this room more than any other in our home, and I think it's safe to say, I'm finally loving the outcome! Stick around! :)
I love how you're keeping it real. So many bloggers don't that they start to feel fake. I love your style and have been a fan for years. I can't wait to see your master!!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much, Megan! That means a lot!! :)
DeleteLol, great post! I like to keep it real on my blog at times too and I have a bedroom that looks very similar to yours... as far as the half finished projects goes!
ReplyDeleteTania
Love it, Tania! I know the "keeping it real" posts aren't always the best ones, but I feel like they are totally necessary. Nothing in life is perfectly put together and organized, so we might as well embrace it! ;)
DeleteOh my goodness that is too funny that you have a room like that. I don't have a lot of extra space in this house but sadly I do have one guest room full of clean, unfolded laundry. :( I will definitely not be posting a picture of that though. haha I need to get my act together! :p Do you guys see yourself reaping the benefits of all this hard work one day as in raking in that money?? Ha! Or are you wanting to stay settled and make it your family home?
ReplyDeleteI'll never say never, but we purchased this house with the intention of it becoming our family home. It's in the most perfect neighborhood....basically our dream location....and we have fantastic neighbors who have become like family to us. I'd be devastated to leave!!
Deleteour guest bedroom looks a lot like the pic with clothes pilled all over some beds, ha. love the chartreuse night stands!
ReplyDeleteSince we really only use one of our guest bedrooms for actual guests, the other has becoming a dumping ground. SO embarrassing, but it's real life!! Thank you...love those too!! :)
DeleteLOL our guest bedroom always looked like this, too. I think they look great!
ReplyDeleteYea, it's just real life lol! Thanks, Kim! :)
DeleteNothing is underwhelming in your home! And I love that you are revealing real life too.
ReplyDeleteAw, you're the sweetest...thanks, Julia! :)
DeleteI'm in love with those yellow night stands! did you refinish those yourself? Love your style!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Yes, they were a Craigslist makeover. You can check the makeover out here: http://retroranchrenovation.blogspot.com/2012/01/nightstands-are-new-again.html
