More Than Meets The Eye.

One of my weekend to-do's to prep for the hubby's family visit on Sunday was getting our barn door painted.  I meant to do this the week it was installed, but clearly that did not happen.  This weekend was a different story though...I was a woman determined.  The minute I got home from work on Friday, I threw my paint clothes on and got down to business.

After a little paint and primer-in-one {the same we used on our trim and cabinets}, our door went from this....

...to this!

I know...I know... you are probably thinking that I wasted my time painting it because it looks EXACTLY the same, but I promise you...in real life, the barn door looks much more bright and clean...and well, finished!

Plus, it feels so good to cross another thing off my to-do list. :)

  1. Congrats on crossing of another "to-do"! Door painting tops my list of most hated house projects!

  2. It looks shinier!

Crossing things off the old to-do list always feels great.

  3. I can't really tell, BUT I want to repaint all of our white ceilings, white. You probably wont be able to notice that much though! ;)

    1. Yea, it's nothing you can notice in the pictures, but it made all the difference to me. And so I totally understand you wanting to paint all your ceilings over. We painted all the ceilings {or should I say my 6'4 father did} when we moved in. It was part of freshening this place up! :)

  4. Yeah....fresh paint makes a difference. I thought for sure you would paint it the same color as inside your kitchen cabinets. I love this bold yellow one:

    1. I actually wanted to keep it neutral since I knew I was painting all my furniture pieces an aqua-ish color. I love the crisp, clean feeling of the white door. I'll be adding more color with art, lamps, etc. as I get around to finishing up the room with some more decor. :)

Ahhhhh, I love Dana's yellow barn door! That was such an awesome piece! I can't wait to see what she does in "The Underdog"!

    2. Great idea! Yup....I am on pins and needles to see any progress on the underdog myself. You guys both have great style and I found you both on YHL too.

  5. I soooooooo love your house! You've got great taste. I noticed how cool your light fixture is @ the entryway. Where did you find it? It's exactly what I've been looking for.

  7. Beautiful. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I feel like I can see a slight difference. It's a bit brighter. Your house is looking great!

  8. That is a REALLY, REALLY unique concept- using that Barn Door! I have never seen anything like it!! Be careful though.....Diane's gonna think there is a Horse stall inside inside and accidentally fall down the cellar stairs!!! Great Job Guys!!!

  9. Hey Gabbi! Is this wall color the Gentle Rain? I love this color-- it definitely looks like a true gray. And I'm having total barn door envy over here! It's gorgeous! Thanks, girl!
