I Love Goooooold.

And I love Tar-jay.  I can’t go in there without spending two times the amount I thought I would when I first decided to go there.

Case in point?  I went to look for a lamp shade to replace one in our bedroom that I mayyyy have splattered with paint while hammering a lid shut after painting our bedroom for the millionth time.  As I navigated my way through the store towards the lamp aisle {I’ll get back to lamp shades in another post ;)}, I had to pass by numerous pretty things.  I forced myself to stroll on by the first time around, but I caved when passing them by for the second time.  This shapely lady ended up in my cart.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the plastic-ish black frame, but I knew that could easily be fixed with some gold spray paint I already had on hand.  {Yup...the same paint I used to make this cheap art for our bedroom.}

The conditions around here aren’t ideal for spray painting, but one Saturday the temps happened to reach the mid-40’s, and I decided to live on the edge and set up my spray painting shop on our back porch.

One quick coat of a spray primer...

Then two quick coats of gold...

And I was left with this.  I’m.  In.  Love.

Not too long ago, I would have never thought mixing metals would be my jam...now, I’m obsessed.  I love the un-matchy-matchy feeling of it.  Anyone else enjoy mixing it up?

  1. I've been mixing it up in our house too! I actually think as long as you have 2 pieces in the same metal it definitely gives it a collected feel. Lovin' the new addition!

  5. Lovely!! You are brave to paint something brand new...I don't know if I would have the guts to do it! I keep thinking, though, that I need something fun and random in my living room - but "what" is the question....

    1. Thanks Katie! I'm kind of surprised I went ahead and painted something new too...but the minute I saw it, I knew immediately it'd be fab in gold. I hope you find something fun...maybe an inexpensive mirror, painted a great color?!?! ;)

    1. Thanks Christine! Hahaha, right?? It's so funny how it's back in such a big way. And I'm definitely digging turquoise and greens with gold or brass. The combo makes me weak. :)

  13. I'm curious as to what gold paint you used. I'm needing to find a similar golden color of spray paint for a diy project of my own! Thanks!

  16. Love this! I've seen this mirror in Target, and thought it was cute as is, but the gold definitely makes it even better.

  17. I picked up 5 of these mirrors at an outlet art sale. I have one taped up and primed (the tape took forever on those curves). I am stuck with what to paint them... do you think all the same color or different? I would like to use them on an empty wall I have in the living room. Do you think 5 mirrors together like this would look strange? I am at a loss. Your mirror looks great!

    1. Hi Rebecca! In my personal opinion, since they are all the same mirror and will be hung together in a collection, I would keep them the same color, or even do an ombre effect using different gradients of one color. I don't think it'll look strange at all! To get the placement how you want it, you can cut paper to the size of the mirror...arrange them on the floor and then move the paper up onto the wall to get things right before you start permanently putting the actual mirrors up. Good luck! :)
