So here she is after I removed all of the original hardware and sanded the surface to roughen things up for the primer.
After all of that fun, I had my Dad assist me in carrying this light-as-a-feather piece {HA...sarcasm} from the garage to our living room, where my Mom was waiting to take over the priming and painting. Lucky me, I was exiled to our master bedroom, trying to take care of the disaster that is supposed to be our oasis to escape to.
After some perfect painting and several days of curing, I was finally able to re-attach the doors and the original hardware. The second I put the first piece back on, I was S-M-I-T-T-E-N. I absolutely loveeee this piece and I'm so happy with how it came out!!
{These photos make the color seem A LOT lighter than it really is. The very last picture, although not a good one since it was taken with my iPhone and has a glare across it, best depicts how the color appears in real life. Forgive me...I don't know how to change my camera settings to fix this!}
So there you have it...that's our new-to-us buffet that I can't get enough of. Anyone else take on some major furniture painting lately?!?!
P.S. - I have a couple more furniture makeovers to share with you guys. I'm just waiting on some hardware, and then I can hopefully reveal them to you guys later this week! :)
I'm afraid we cannot be internet friends anymore.. That is EXACTLY the buffet I'm hunting for! I want it SO BAD I can TASTE it.
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful! Well done! I'm anxiously awaiting more reveals from your productive time with the parents!

DeleteHey Gabbi & Pete,
ReplyDeleteWe live about Two blocks from Bayhead Beach and we decided on White furnishings with a slightly rubbed white stressed finish in sort of a wainscott style with hammered pewter hardware inserted in white wood for knobs. This is our Livingroom Entertainment Center as well as a man sized white Armoir for me and two nightstands.
We had them custom made but this is going back 10 yrs ago. I am glad we invested in them as they have stood the test of time as well as the daily wear & tear of life plus the ravages of our 7yr old Vincent ....(TV is truly their life) as little Kevin McCallister so aptly stated in Home Alone 2!
I managed to find an old but very well built coffee table in an Antique Store which serves a great dual purpose for Mom & Dad(Me & Bev that is LOL) and for Vincent and his crayons, watercoloring etc.
Enough of my furniture and Hi Jacking your page here LOL....How I got on the subject of White furniture is at first you are right(and Im Colorblind)..your initial set of buffet pics looked white...the last pictures showed the color .....very nice!
You guys have really done an awesome job. Progress.....Progress....Progres....is being made!!!!
That furniture sounds beautiful!! Thank you!
DeleteLOVE. LOVE. LOVE. That is a beautiful piece and the color came our wonderfully! Can't wait to see the other makeovers! :)

ReplyDeleteDo you use rollers to avoid paint brush marks or a really good brush?
Thank you so much, Laurel! I roll the paint on with a small, high-density foam roller and then go over it immediately with a quality brush. :)
