Even though my blog has been admittedly slow, my instagram feed never is. It’s definitely my
favorite form of social media. It allows
me to stay in contact with everyone and even acts as a mini-blog, documenting
the things I’m working on and loving on.
If you follow along with me, you probably saw that I started
making over our bedroom {for the millionth time} almost a year ago. The reason for it? Well there’s two reasons actually…
1) I l-o-v-e to
rearrange and redecorate. It’s a problem,
but I’m confident I’m not the only blogger who suffers from this affliction.
;) I remember, as a kid, I was
constantly rearranging my bedroom furniture all.
the. time. I love to switch
things up and gain new perspective on a space.
And most importantly, 2) our bedroom has never felt “right”
to me. I’ve switched things up quite a
few times, and afterwards I always feel a little better, but I’m never 100%
about the space. Having an unsettled
master bedroom is not ideal. It’s the space
you are supposed to retreat to...a place to quiet your mind and relax. Our bedroom does nothing of the sort for me because
when I’m in there, I’m constantly brainstorming about a space that will finally
feel finished.
I took a few leaps in the right direction quite some time
ago when I swapped out our furniture, installed my DIY lucite curtain rods and went darker on the walls.
When I completed that painting project, hubby removed our
mounted TV {which I hated due to it’s placement}, and I decided the TV would
live on our long dresser. Once that
decision was made, I immediately knew I wanted to put together a mini-gallery
wall to tone down the “hey, look at the big TV” vibe we had going.
I didn’t want to spend much on the gallery wall, and luckily
I didn’t have to. I was able to shop our
home and garbage pick from our neighbors {yup, I was that girl picking through
a junk pile at the curb} for everything I put up on the wall.
Once I collected a bunch of things, I traced their forms
onto rosin paper left over from refinishing our floors. {Pardon the grainy instgram pictures....they are all I could find from when I started this project. #bloggerfail}
After that, I taped the shapes onto the wall
and played around with the arrangement.
Once I liked what I saw, I busted out my handy, dandy 3M command strips
{I do not hang a thing without them} to secure everything onto the wall.
And thennn, in true-to-me form, I let about three months pass
while we stared at empty and/or ugly frames each day. Finally I had enough and prettied things
up. I painted the garbage picked frames
and even some of the mats.
I used some of my Spoonflower wallpaper samples to add a little pop to a few pieces.
I gave two frames extra special treatment by adding the Besos print from The Smitten Collection and the Zebra Love print from Parima Studio. You should check both ladies out because their stuff is uh-mazinggg...as in, I want it all!!
And done!!
Okay, well, 99% done. I have a bit more twerking, errrr I mean tweaking, to do. My DIY radiant orchid art is replacing the empty gold frame, and that shiny thing will be replacing the empty black frame. I'm also planning to fill the oval mat up with something better than my two-second-hack-job of a "Z".
Slowly but surely, I'm piecing this room together. I don't care how long it takes, I won't stop until the room truly feels like us. :)
Cute cute cute. I love it!!!

Thank you, Dez! :)
DeleteLooks great!! Love the color of your dresser as well.. trying to decide on a color for mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I actually painted it that color when I decided it'd be out in our living room...then when I moved it into our bedroom it worked perfectly still. Phew! :)
DeleteIt's coming along! I love the added Spoonflower paper for some more fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley!!
DeleteI'm pretty much madly in love with your dresser! it just shines! lol The artwork looks good --- I'm totally on the fence about our TV placement in our bedroom namely its on the wall......and I'm kind of over that look! lol :) I'm really liking your deep wall color in your bedroom too!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks so much! I bet you'll come up with some fantastic for your TV...can't wait to see!
DeleteThe black frames really help balance out the TV. Good call!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Lisa! :)
DeleteIt look great, Gabbi! I am dying for one of those federal mirrors but they all sell for hundreds around here. Damn New Englanders and their knowledge of antiques!!
ReplyDeleteWas just going to comment on how much I'm digging that mirror, had no idea they were such a hot commodity! Holy cats.
DeleteAll I have to say is ebay, all the way! I'm sure mine is fake or something, but it was a heck of a deal to get the look! Do some searching! :)
DeleteHaha...Gabbi has some twerking to do ;). I love how your gallery wall is turning out, honestly, the best projects are the ones you take your time to do. I have been planning on a gallery wall for my living room since we moved here 4 years ago, it will get done....someday. I love the vortex mirror btw..I've been looking for one that won't break my wallet more than it already is.
ReplyDeleteHaaaaa! ;) Thanks love!! I totally agree...rooms that develop over time are always my favorites! Check out ebay...that's where I got mine! :)
DeleteHa ha! Twinsies - I just posted about my thrifted gallery wall. And I agree about Instagram. It's my favorite social media! Loving the black/white/gold combination around the TV.
ReplyDeleteYes! Great minds think alike! ;) Thanks Sarah!
DeleteI love the new arrangement! I wish I were more like you...we've been in our house for three years and our bedroom hasn't received any attention. I know I need to change that but I have more fun working on the common/guest areas! Great job Gabbi!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn!! I'm sure you'll get there with your bedroom. It's the room that most people ignore since people who come over never see it. But it's one that bothers me the most, so I figured it was time to do something about it! :)
Deletebut what would you have to blog about if you didn't keep changing stuff around ;)
ReplyDeletelove it the wall color and the gallery wall does disguise the TV!! We have 1 photo hung in our master bedroom. yep that's it. one...
LOL, exactlyyyyy! ;)
DeleteThanks, I'm pretty smitten with our wall color too. :) No worries, it all takes time. ;) Seriously...I take FOREVER to hang things. It's a problem.
I love how it turned out. The tv just looks like one of the frames now instead of a big heavy piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne!! :)
DeleteI.Love.Gallery.Walls. and this turned out great. I can't wait to see how the 1% turns out :)
ReplyDeleteMe tooooooooo! I can't wait to finish it and share! Thanks Summer! :)
Deletewow it turned out great! I just redid mine and think the hard part is feeling like its just right.
ReplyDeletedont eva stop! :) hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
Thanks so much, Erika! I agree...it's hard to get it to feel "finished".
DeleteAw, thanks...you too!
You have such a gift for this stuff. I love the different color and shapes. It's the perfect way to make the television blend in instead of sticking out.
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much, Kim!! Xo!
DeleteBwahahahahha! Twerkin! It looks great. I love it. It looks collected, which is exactly how a gallery wall should look:)
ReplyDeleteHaaaa, I couldn't help it. I had to! ;)
DeleteThanks girl!
Love it! The wall color is so pretty too!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Bethany! :)
